Ukrainian-Style Sauerkraut

(Maryna’s Kapusta)

Crisp, tangy, and small-batch—Maryna hand-shreds fresh cabbage and a touch of carrot, salts it, and lets it ferment naturally for clean, classic flavour. No vinegar, no preservatives—just old-world technique done right.

  • Traditional Ukrainian method

  • Carrots add gentle sweetness + pretty colour

  • Small-batch for consistent crunch

Ingredients
Green cabbage, carrot, non-iodized salt.

Canned sauerkraut jars on a kitchen countertop with a tile backsplash.

How to enjoy
Perfect with perogies/varenyky, sausage, pork, sandwiches, hot dogs, winter salads, or a quick skillet fry with butter and onions.

Storage & care

  • Keep refrigerated at all times. Chilling slows fermentation to a crawl and preserves crunch/flavour.

  • Use a clean utensil each time; keep veggies submerged in brine.

  • Best flavour within 4–6 weeks of pickup. (Jar may gently fizz when opened—normal for live ferments.)

  • Not canned/shelf-stable.

Sizes/Prices
